here's an arts and crafts project gone horribly wrong. i wanted to make a boat, but this came out. ahoy!
i must say i am a little indebted to cadet lydia for the high seas media inspiration.
media: wood, wood glue, paints, whiteout, string, american flag, dollar bill. (& plastic shopping and newspaper bags.)
photo: kodak professional ultra color 400 film.
assembled march 2008, new york.

Those colors are ultra! And whiteout is simply the best! Are those the bags they deliver the newspapers in?
this makes me miss you terribly. i love it, especially the sea of best buy bags. art is probably the best reason to destroy currency.
so, she doesn't sail at all? not even in a very shallow puddle?
capital, old bean!
You are the man.
wow i'm somewhat flattered to have been a bit of an inspiration. i really like this. what kind of film did you use? 35mm? medium format will give you some amazing focal range.
it's uhm 35mm, just quickly set up and taken to display the piece. it's really just the boat, not the photograph of the boat or anything installationy that i wanted to show. i want to shoot more medium format, but it's getting expensive being away from my darkroom and having to depend on labs.
cadet megyn also mentioned it was appropriate for the u.s.s. capital idea to be floating on a sea of shopping bags. i didn't catch that. i'm not as smart as my art.
alanna, i will try and float it in the bathtub for you.
thanks everyone elsssse.
